Complete Family Dental Care
The accumulation of plaque and calculus around the teeth and under the gums can cause a cascade of dental problems like tooth decay, gingivitis, bone loss, halitosis (bad breath), and eventually, tooth loss. Routine exams and cleanings ensure you can enjoy a lifetime of exceptional oral health.
A digital radiograph is a type of x-ray imaging that uses digital sensors instead of traditional film. Viewable within seconds, these x-rays are necessary to better diagnose, detect, and monitor oral conditions and diseases of the teeth, gums, and bone.
Digital x-rays use up to 80% lower doses of radiation versus film.
Periodontal disease, or gum disease, is when harmful bacteria in the mouth damages gum tissue and causes your gums to bleed. Healthy gums support healthy and strong teeth and also affect your overall health and well being. There is a link between poor oral health and an increased risk for cardiovascular and systemic disease.
SIGNS OF PERIODONTAL DISEASE:
- Continuous bleeding when brushing and flossing
- Foul odor to your breath that isn’t freshened by mouthwash
- Red, puffy inflamed gums that lack a healthy stippled appearance
- Large black triangles between your teeth which represents bone loss
- Deep pockets where food and bacteria get caught beneath your gums
During your routine exam, Dr. Ahmad will check for oral cancer signs or indicators, including feeling for irregular tissues or bumps in your mouth and neck. If he notices anything unusual or concerning, a biopsy may be recommended for further examination.
Oral cancer is the sixth most common cancer, and also has a high mortality rate. We don’t say this to scare you, but to ensure you understand the importance of oral cancer screening. Anyone can get oral cancer, although drinkers and smokers are at a much higher risk. The good news of this serious condition? Early detection can greatly improve the outcome
Dental appliances are often worn at night to prevent damage to the teeth. People who grind their teeth or who unintentionally clench down too hard when they sleep can cause pain and damage to their teeth.
We can custom fit a night guard for you to help protect your teeth and resolve issues that you may be having with grinding and clenching.
SIGNS YOU MAY BE GRINDING OR CLENCHING
- Jaw Pain
- Eroded Teeth Surfaces
- Fractured Enamel
- Extreme Sensitivity
- Headaches
Restorative Dentistry
Dr. Ahmad is a Bioclear Core Anterior and Advanced Anterior Certified Doctor. He practices heated composite injection-molded restorations on a patient’s natural tooth, with the goal of keeping as much of the natural and healthy tooth as possible. You can walk away from your Bioclear Restoration with a rejuvenated and natural-looking smile while maintaining all of your healthy and natural teeth. Dr. Ahmad’s goal is to rejuvenate the patient’s smile by practicing excellent patient-centered dentistry.
A tooth that has been damaged by root canal, grinding, decay or fracture is likely to break from the stress of daily use. Crowns are full-coverage restorations that are used to cover a tooth that is likely to break or is too damaged to be corrected with a traditional filling.
CEREC improves the design and creation of dental restorations in office. It allows us to do crowns, inlays and onlays in our office in one visit, without a dental laboratory.
A porcelain bridge is an alternative to a dental implant for replacing a missing tooth. The word “bridge” describes bridging the gap where a tooth or teeth are missing. An artificial tooth made out of porcelain replaces the missing tooth, and is connected to the adjacent supporting teeth. These supporting teeth are covered with porcelain crowns.
Dental Implants are an outstanding restorative option for patients who have missing teeth or require tooth extraction because of advanced disease or decay. A dental implant is a threaded titanium post that is surgically inserted into the jawbone to replace lost tooth roots.
With 3D implantology at our office, our in-house CT scanner generates a 3-dimensional view of the patient’s jaw, which is combined with 3D intraoral impressions and then uploaded into our implant planning software to allow us to perform virtual surgery prior to the actual procedure.
Advances in computer aided design and computer aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) allow the fabrication of highly accurate surgical guides that facilitate precise implant positioning and allow for faster healing and more predictable outcomes.
Following surgery, you will return for a dental implant restoration.
After an implant is placed in the jaw, it takes three to four months for the bone to fuse to the implant. After this process (called osseointegration) is complete, you will come back to our office for the implant abutment and crown. Dr. Ahmad will design a custom crown based on size, shape, color and fit, and will be designed to blend in with your other teeth. Bridges and dentures may also be implant-supported.
Cosmetic Dentistry
For Smile Design cases we first will take before photos of your smile and discuss your smile goals. Then we will have you preview a digitally designed outcome which helps to show what results to expect and will aid in the design of your final smile.
A porcelain veneer is an ultra-thin shell of tooth-colored porcelain that is cemented over the facial surfaces of your teeth to correct dental issues including worn tooth enamel, uneven tooth alignment or spacing, tooth discoloration, and chips or cracks.
The porcelain veneer process typically involves multiple stages including: Diagnosis & Treatment Planning, Preparation, and Final Placement.
Our office offers Philips Zoom! – an effective and safe professional take-home whitening kit. Our team will take an impression of your smile to create custom bleaching trays for home use.
Other Services
It may determined that you need a tooth extraction for various reasons. Some teeth are extracted because they are severely decayed; others may have advanced periodontal disease or have broken in a way that cannot be repaired. Other teeth may need removal because they are poorly positioned in the mouth (such as impacted teeth), or in preparation for orthodontic treatment. In some cases, you may be referred to an Oral Surgeon for your extraction.
The removal of a single tooth can lead to issues related to your chewing ability, your jaw joint, and shifting teeth, which may have a major impact on your dental health. To avoid these complications Dr. Ahmad will discuss replacement options of the extracted tooth.
Root canal treatment is designed to eliminate bacteria from the infected root canal, prevent reinfection of the tooth and save the natural tooth. When one undergoes a root canal, inflamed or infected pulp is removed and the inside of the tooth is carefully cleaned and disinfected, then filled and sealed. In some cases, you may be referred to an endodontist for your root canal.
In most cases, once the tooth is repaired we recommend protecting it with a porcelain crown to prevent fracture.
We understand that problems arise and dental emergencies don’t run on a schedule. Give our office a call and we will do our best to get you an emergency appt as soon as possible so that we can get you treated and feeling better.
To properly evaluate the problem an X-ray of the affected area, along with a 15 to 30 minute examination, is necessary to identify the issue at hand. Dr. Ahmad will evaluate your dental situation and give you a clear plan of what needs to be done to have you feeling comfortable again.
